RANGE OF PROVISION - What CPD have staff had in order to meet the needs of children with SEND?

Senior leaders are committed to providing the entire staff with appropriate CPD in order to carry out their roles and responsibilities to the very highest standards. As a result, staff regularly receive training sessions on a range of needs which include-
Teaching Assistants
All teaching assistants have had training by Solihull Speech and Language Therapy Department.
Training undertaken by staff in the last six months include:
Fine motor control difficulties
Gross Motor Control Difficulties
BEAM – Balance & Movement
Understanding the needs of children with Cerebral Palsy
Understanding the needs of children with epilepsy
Epipen training
Attachment & Trauma in Children
Early Identification of children with SEND.
Inclusion including day and residential visits
At Lady Katherine Leveson School we arrange a wide range of day visits each term. These are carefully planned with Subject leaders, both to enhance the curriculum and include all children, no matter what their needs may be.
We also arrange a minimum of two residential visits and this year we have three. The children in each year group are carefully considered to make sure they are able to be included in the activity being offered.
Those children who require extra support for day or residential visits are provided with a member of staff who understands their needs.
All children are encouraged to attend After School Clubs run by outside agencies or school staff and the needs of the children are taken into account when organising the range of clubs. Where a child may need support a member of staff will attend the first session to assess the amount of support needed.
